A 16-year old boy from Rifle, Colorado, is suing the four kids who beat him to a pulp. During the beating, he heard them saying "Faggot!" and "I want a turn with the bat. Give it to me. It's my turn!" They rammed his head into a car bumper, beat and kicked him, and left him by the side of the road where a jogger found him unconscious the next morning.

Why is he suing? Because the local police and prosecutors won't bring charges. "Police initially said they believed that Skyock was drunk and his injuries were a result of 'falling down.' Yet, Skyock's injuries included: large purple bruises on the front and back of his head; a fractured skull; a circle of burn blisters on his shoulder; a black eye; three broken ribs; a foot-shaped bruise on his stomach; and another bruise described by doctors as in the shape of a two-by-four."

I have mixed feelings on hate-crimes laws, but as long as people are allowed to pretend that there aren't gay teenagers, they're apparently allowed to pretend that they don't get the shit kicked out of them. That must end.
