Joshua Micah Marshall points out that the proposal for the Department of Homeland Security explicitly exempts it from both the Federal Whistleblower Act and the Freedom of Information Act. So if the department exceeds its bounds or breaks the law, not only will we not be allowed to find out, anyone who knows won't be protected if they reveal it. Nice.
