Oklahoma City local news - from Baltimore

KOKH-TV (channel 25, the OKC FOX affiliate), owned by the Sinclair Broadcast Group (and noted in earlier months for running station promos with phrases like "We support the President"), is firing the local weather and sports staff, as well as eight news staffers. Only some local news will be produced locally; the rest of the "9 O'Clock News Hour" will be produced at Sinclair headquarters in Baltimore and made to look like it's local.

Sinclair also owns KOCB (channel 34, the WB affiliate) in Oklahoma City. It has no news programming.

Invading Iraq makes war criminals?

From The Independent:

Legal experts added to the doubts by saying British troops could be the first defendants to face war crimes charges if the government joined a war without UN backing. Even the accidental bombing of Iraqi civilian targets could trigger criminal prosecutions, senior lawyers warned last night.

Maybe it's a lot clearer now why Bush & Cheney insisted that the US not be party to the International War Crimes tribunal. If they insist on invading Iraq with no international authority to do so, as has clearly been the desire of the neocons since at least 1998, we may be facing the real possibility that Bush and other US officials get declared as international war criminals and face arrest and trial if they leave the country.

Anyone still say there's no difference between the political parties? That no one should remember Bush stealing the 2000 election and everyone should just "get over it?" This guy has two years left in office, and he's done enough damage in the first two that the next two presidential terms couldn't fix it all. The economy is shot, our international credibility is gone, we're about to send US soldiers to commit war crimes (invading a country with no international authority to do so, just like Iraq did to Kuwait in 1991), domestic credibility is shot - everything these guys touch turns to disaster. Even the principled part of the GOP is turning on its head to support preemptive war, international intervention, huge deficits, rampant federalism - you name it.

The White House now puts out more lies by noon than the Clinton administration could manage in a month. This is the guy who was supposed to restore "dignity" to the office? Why is the GOP standing behind this guy? Don't they have anyone better? Anywhere?
