Deficit denial

An excellent op-ed by Michael Kinsley on the hypocrisy GOP congressional leaders espouse over deficits, including rather obvious exposure of how the arguments they keep using for tax cuts can't possibly all be true. Well worth reading.

Key McVeigh evidence questioned

According to this new (and not very publicized) AP report, the Department of Justice was alerted that an FBI lab technician who provided key forensic against Timothy McVeigh later contradicted that evidence under oath in a civil deposition. The defense team was never told.

The DOJ was told about this while McVeigh's execution was on a one-month delay to examine big stacks of other evidence that had similarly and unconstitutionally been withheld from the defense, and even though the document had been faxed to the Attorney General's fax number and sent by courier to his attention, they shoved it in a mail room and didn't review it until after McVeigh had been executed -- or so they say.

Now, I believe McVeigh was guilty, and I didn't oppose his execution, but still I don't want to hear this crap. The biggest and most obvious terrorism attack on US soil before 9/11 and they can't convict the guy without cheating? What the hell is wrong with these people?
