I made 1600 on my SATs!

Well, actually, I didn't - I scored 1490 (730 verbal, 760 math) in the fall of 1984, and that was on an OU game day while the Pride of Oklahoma was playing a pre-game concert just outside the testing room door. I've therefore always claimed a distraction allowance.

I had heard that in 1995, the College Board "recentered" the SAT grading scale, boosting the scores so that the average 1990s college-bound high-school senior would score a 500, the mid-point of the 200-800 scale. I didn't know until today that this recentering means my pre-1995 score of 1490 is now equivalent to a perfect 1600 on the SAT. I have a friend who bragged on me once that he beat me on the test by scoring a 1520 - but he did that in 1997. On the scale of my days, he made a 1440.

Hee hee hee.

Inhofe rides again

I read about Inhofe's latest fact-free "global warming is a hoax" speech shortly after he made it, but I wasn't blogging much at the time. Now comes more evidence of the perfidy of this state's junior senator: he's making stuff up on the floor of the senate to support his corporate owners' agenda, taking science writing out of context to make it say what it didn't say. David Appell, who was quoted incorrectly by Inhofe, caught him at it.

Not that Inhofe cares about facts when money is involved - why start now?

For more, see past stories Senator James Inhofe is a dangerous idiot and Inhofe still has no character.
