Connecticut wins NCAA Mens Basketball Championship

UConn beats Georgia Tech, beneficiaries of the Annual Poke Choke, by a score of 82-73 tonight in San Antonio.

The URL, however, links to Eric Alterman's "Altercation" Weblog, where regular contributor Charles Pierce said the following on Friday, before the final two were even determined:

And, should anyone ask, it's UConn 81, Georgia Tech 66 on Monday night.

The Rambling Wreck rambled back to narrow the gap at the end, but at halftime, UConn was up by - wait for it - fifteen points.

That Pierce is a a sharp cookie.

The 2004 Pulitzers are out

In Journalism, the Los Angeles Times wins five, the Wall Street Journal wins two, and one each to the Toledo Blade, the Washington Post, the Miami Herald, the White Plains NY Journal News, and the Dallas Morning News.

The Weekly Standard, Frontpage, and Instapundit's complaints about how all the Bush scandals are just too complicated to bother with, all scandalously ignored.

Update: Anthony Shadid won for The Washington Post for his International Reporting from Iraq. Josh Marshall says it's "truly well-deserved." It turns out Shadid is an Oklahoma native. Shame he had to leave the state to write for a real newspaper.
