A Busy Person's Guide to the Bush Press Conference
Q: Why won't you testify before the 9/11 commission without Cheney at your side?A: Because they want to ask us questions.
Q: I asked why you're appearing together, instead of separately as they requested?
A: Because we can both answer this way.
Why is it that the same people who complain about the public schools are the same ones who can't see that George W. Bush is the worst president since, and possibly including, Warren G. Harding? Do they just like private schools because of their selective history teaching?
All Americans should be embarrassed tonight.
President Gore won't be removed from office
TV schedules tonight all FUBARed
For example, Fox has quickly moved its high-rated Tuesday night shows off the schedule for tonight. American Idol's live competition will air tomorrow night at 7PM CT, with the results show Thursday night (opposite Survivor). Hour 18 of 24, meanwhile, airs Sunday night at 8PM PT, replacing what were supposed to be new episodes of Malcolm in the Middle and the wonderfully-funny Arrested Development. Fox has updated its online scheudle to show the new slots
NBC is dumping reruns of Frasier and Scrubs, as well as a new episode of Happy Family for the Eastern and Central time zones, but hasn't announced what will air in the Pacific zone between 8:30 PM and 10PM. ABC is dropping reruns of 8 Simple Rules and (ugh) According to Jim, but still showing them on the West Coast due to the time differences (it doesn't matter, since they're reruns). CBS was going to show a rerun of Navy NCIS at 7PM CT, followed by a new The Guardian and a rerun of Judging Amy. Now, for ET and CT, that's a rerun of Still Standing, followed by the press conference, and a rerun of The King of Queens if necessary to fill until 9PM CT, when Judging Amy comes on. Like NBC, CBS has not announced what will fill the schedule on the West Coast.
You need to think about this even if you have a TiVo, because last night's program database update did not include the presidential press conference. My TiVo, for example, is still perfectly convinced that 24 is coming on tonight at 8PM. If I hadn't cancelled the recording, the TiVo would also have been convinced that it had already recorded hour 18 of 24, and wouldn't pick it up on Sunday when that gets added to the schedule. Same for American Idol and those other shows.
So, if you use a DVR, make sure your schedule for tonight is correct, and if not, cancel the recordings for tonight. TiVo signed a deal earlier this year with Tribune Media Services to get programming updates more than once per day, but it's not in place yet, so last-minute schedule changes still wreak havoc upon DVRs. It should be fixed by tomorrow, but that won't help you tonight.
