More fun with local news
The video then switched to traffic completely stopped on a rainy Pennsylvania highway, as Lohman said, "The Kerry/Edwards motorcade brought traffic to a standstill in Pennsylvania. The candidates were on their way to Greensburg when they stopped the bus to get orange juice and bagels delivered to their staffers," as the video showed people running between buses in the rain with plastic bags of food.
Lohman then paused, and said, with that anchor-fake sincerity (you know the tone), "Guess they didn't want them to starve on that hard campaign trail."
Of course, a Presidential motorcade never stops traffic for any reason, including food for White House staffers. Of course not. Don't be hating America that way.
Lohman then went on to say that Kerry and Edwards addressed thousands of people in Greensburg, PA, about the economy - but suddenly the station "couldn't find" the tape, so she "recovered" and read a one-sentence summary: "While Kerry told the crowd he plans to stay clear of negative campaigning, he also says he will bring 'trust and credibility' back to the White House."
This was followed by a story on Bill Clinton signing books in Fayeteville, AR. The anchor ended the story this way: "The former President had agreed to sign about 1000 copies, but decided to stay late and sign more because of the huge crowd." Pause, switch to fake sincere tone: "Mr. Clinton just ... couldn't ... resist."
That, in turn, was followed by a "news" report of about 10 people in Miami, FL, demonstrating against Michael Moore's 1996 book, Downsize This.
So, once again: the President is allowed to speak and shown participating in manly activities. The Democratic challenger is not allowed to speak, portrayed as inconveniencing the public for shallow reasons, and alleged to have contradicted himself, followed by a report subtly emphasizing Bill Clinton's "lack of self control" and how people hate Michael Moore.
