Oh my God.
AP - Gov. Jeb Bush asked a prosecutor Friday to investigate why Terri Schiavo collapsed 15 years ago, calling into question how long it took her husband to call 911 after he found her.
They are absolutely impervious to facts, aren't they?
In a letter faxed to Pinellas-Pasco County State Attorney Bernie McCabe, Bush said Michael Schiavo testified in a 1992 medical malpractice trial that he found his wife collapsed at 5 a.m. on Feb. 25, 1990, and he said in a 2003 television interview that he found her about 4:30 a.m. He called 911 at 5:40 a.m.
"Between 40 and 70 minutes elapsed before the call was made, and I am aware of no explanation for the delay," Bush wrote. "In light of this new information, I urge you to take a fresh look at this case without any preconceptions as to the outcome."
If the guy was trying to kill his wife, why would he have called 911 at all before she was dead? We're supposed to believe that the guy was sinister enough to somehow make his wife into a vegetable in an undetectable fashion, but not smart enough to actually let her die? Could there possibly be a simpler explanation?
Michael Schiavo's attorney, George Felos, did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment from The Associated Press. But on Wednesday he said his client didn't wait to call for help. He said his client has conceded that he confuses dates and times.
Felos has said that if Michael Schiavo had not called 911 immediately, as Bush and others allege, Terri Schiavo would have died that day.
"There is no hour gap or other gap to the point Michael heard Terri fall and called 911," Felos said. "We've seen the baseless allegations in this case fall by the wayside one by one ... That's what I would call it, a baseless claim to perpetuate a controversy that in fact doesn't exist."
The autopsy proved that everything the vultures of life said about Terry Schiavo was false, so in typical fact-free winger fashion, they're just going to make up new things to say and pretend they never said the other stuff. Normally, the correct response to this is to ignore it - countless Democrats have learned that as soon as you spend time and effort refuting the garbage, it doesn't matter because the wingers just leave it behind and throw new garbage in the hopes that something new sticks. If one thing they made up doesn't work, they'll make up something else, always on the attack, never backing down.
Poor Michael Schiavo may not have that luxury, though - Gov. Bush is asking him to be investigated criminally for not having looked at a clock when he found his wife collapsed on the floor, and making some kind of legally-binding proof of the time. Despite the Constitution, in cases like this, the guy basically has to prove himself innocent unless enough people are watching. They are, but it will still cost him a lot of time and money.
Bastards.
