(Washington) A new report from the National Institutes of Health shows that 13 percent of men who have sex with men believe that an HIV vaccine already exists but is being kept a secret.

If you're incredulous at this figure, consider this: if a Bush administration agency had a vaccine that stopped gay people from getting a fatal disease, do you believe the White House would want it released? Or Focus on the Family? Rick Santorum?

If the question were phrased in the speculative and not the definite - that is, "If a vaccine existed, would the government keep it a secret?" - I think the percentage of "yes" answers would be much, much higher.
