Four Son's what?

Four Sons: White House Web page, 8/24/2005, 10PM

The mother of what belonging to "Four Son"? What, does the President actually write the White House Web site captions, too?

American Legion says First Amendment no longer worth defending

If you think the American Legion's move is anything other than a naked, partisan, political play, be sure to read this - the Legion's own words on "acceptable" war as of May 1999. Of course, everything's changed since then - the president is named "Bush" again, for one thing.

First the Boy Scouts of America turn into hypocritical theocratic asshats, and now the American Legion is chasing them down the road. Sad, sad times.

Brand New Jury Duty Scam

Here's a new twist scammers are using to commit identity theft: the jury duty scam. Here's how it works:

The scammer calls claiming to work for the local court and claims you've failed to report for jury duty. He tells you that a warrant has been issued for your arrest.

The victim will often rightly claim they never received the jury duty notification. The scammer then asks the victim for confidential information for "verification" purposes.

You know, one could ask how dumb you have to be to make it an element of your crime to piss off the court in the jurisdiction where you'll be tried if caught, but somehow I doubt any of these Einsteins get that far.

Audri and Jim have more details on how to know when this, or anything like it, is a grift.

NBC coming to town?

EL RENO -- If you could make a life-changing wish, what would it be?

NBC is betting the wish-making theme will become a hit new prime time reality television show, and it might be filming soon in the west metro.

El Reno is a possible site for "Three Wishes," NBC officials confirmed. Each unscripted, one-hour show will tell three dramatic stories in a small community.

Producers intend to fulfill the dreams of everyday Americans.

I suppose it'd be cheating for the third wish to be "Please give these two people what they want without NBC and the whitewash of network television coming to town," but I can dream.
