New Story: The perfect cup of tea

Since I was just speaking of hot tea, and since no less than Martha Stewart herself gave very bad instructions for making hot tea yesterday, I decided to share my easy way to make the perfect single mug of tea. You need two pieces of equipment, but once you have them, making fantastic hot tea takes about 5 minutes and is easier than brewing coffee, and so much more satisfying.

In fact, I'm going to have another mug now. Read the story to find out my secrets.

My body hates me

After having been sick with The Crud That's Going Around for weeks, last night I found a new terror - something that seemed a lot like a migraine. I fell asleep unexpectedly around 5:30 after having had a full night's sleep the night before. Two and a half hours later, my head hurt so much I could barely move. I managed to go lie down and turn the lights out to ease it, but it was still hurting an hour and a half later.

I couldn't tell what it was. It shouldn't be an infection since I just completed antibiotics. It might have been tension, or sinuses, or some bug trying to take hold. So I reacted as if it were all three. I took some Dayquil (400mg of ibuprofen before lying down seemed to do nothing, but one dose of Dayquil has 1000mg of acetaminophen), used a hand massager on my head for a while, and drank some hot tea. Within another 30 mins, I was still moving kind of slowly, but was good to go.

This morning, after another six hours and some more Dayquil and tea, I'm feeling about the same - slightly weak, but quite functional. I've not been one to have migraine headaches, although both my sister and mom did when I was in junior high (I prefer to think I was not the cause, thank you). But that was fairly scary. I'm starting to think of Kindergarten Cop and wonder if I have a brain tumor.

Anyway - before posting this, I did something I've wanted to do for a while and updated the "department" names on Ye Olde Blogg. So instead of "Health," this is "What doesn't kill you," etc. Older posts keep the older department names, but the new ones get the new names. The per-department RSS feeds should still work as advertised. Kudos to The Lambchop Herself for making me feel dumb for not doing this long ago.
