'October' Posted at BCM INTERNATIONAL
While I have little use for MySpace (ugh), composer Eric Whitacre is one of those using it as a social networking and promotion tool, so two items from his listing today are worth mention. First, you can now listen to October again, as mentioned in /discuss/msgReader$919:
Fellow band-nerds,
I've posted "October" on my 'other' site: www.myspace.com/bcminternational
Please stop by and join the madness. Revel in all things band.
Word, as always, to your li'l mommies.

(note to e: my mom was never "little.")
Newer in the repertoire than that, though, is Whitacre's opera Paradise Lost, which has still not seen a full performance:
Friends,
I've posted another very rough Paradise Lost track on Hila's MySpace page:
It's called "Sleep, My Child"… it's originally for three sopranos, but in this demo Hila is doing all of the voices. Please let us know what you think, and be sure to add Hila as a friend if you like it.
Cheers!
Eric
Hila Plitmann, the soprano, is Whitacre's wife, and was recently featured in the soundtrack to The Da Vinci Code.
So go listen and enjoy, and check out BCM International. It's good contemporary wind stuff from composers other than Whitacre, and you'll find links to other good recordings, like one of Steven Bryant's Alchemy in Silent Spaces.
