KFOR must be in doofus heaven
Thanks to the ice storm, they haven't aired one single second of high-definition video since the football game ended Sunday night, and they seemed to have plenty of trouble doing even that.
Right now, against all writer's strike odds, NBC has an episode of 30 Rock that is both new and topical (Christmas-themed). KFOR is showing this as a small, letterboxed, crappy SD window inside graphics about schools that are closed tomorrow.
KFOR's 24/7 weather channel, digital channel 4-2, remains absolutely unchanged during the ice storm and is currently showing canned computer graphics about the temperature in the panhandle, commercials for Gerber Life Insurance, and B-roll about the weather on the West Coast.
So, once again, during the biggest weather event of the year, KFOR's dedicated 24/7 weather channel contained absolutely nothing about the current huge weather event, while the HD channel was reduced to the nation's crappiest SD picture to show the same weather graphics that they refused to put on the weather-related channel.
Makes me no difference—they'll re-run 30 Rock soon anyway because they'll have no choice, so I abandoned the recording to watch the NFL Network game. If the rerun is in SD, I won't watch it either. When KFOR's ratings continue to hit the floor in NBC's most popular series, someone will finally realize that people who spent lots more money than I did on brand new HDTV equipment won't watch when they exhibit such unbelievable incompetence.
The people who realize this, of course, will not be KFOR's current management, as they have proven themselves far, far too stupid to ever figure this out. The change will only come when the current management starts asking "Would you like fries with that, sir?"
