I have the will to sleep, really I do
I'd be doing better this week had I not stayed at work until 6AM for two consecutive nights getting stuff done. It's hard to resist - getting stuff done is fun, and not getting stuff done is not fun. But I'm not 10,000,000 minutes old anymore, and I can't do that and the other stuff I have to do during the days anymore.
I have to fight my urge to stay at work and blaze through an entire security update in five hours because, if I do, it will sabotage the entire weekend and the first four days of next week. I know this. I'm an adult, I can do the responsible thing and walk away and take care of myself.
Now the trick is to go home and sleep, and not to wake up in four hours and not be able to get back to sleep, and have the worst of both worlds. One thing that has surprised me about getting older is how often "taking care of myself" just doesn't work correctly. No wonder Grandma used to take all those pills.
(well, the bum ticker had something to do with it...)
