Newly minted Education Secretary Margaret Spellings has declared her opposition to an episode of PBS' "Postcards From Buster" which features two lesbian couples.

"Many parents would not want their young children exposed to the lifestyles portrayed in the episode," Spellings wrote in a letter sent Tuesday to Pat Mitchell, president and chief executive officer of PBS.

"Congress' and the Department's purpose in funding this programming certainly was not to introduce this kind of subject matter to children, particularly through the powerful and intimate medium of television."

Spellings also asked PBS to refund the money which partially funds the program.

Her letter closes with a warning to PBS against running shows in the future which may run counter to the Administration's values. "You can be assured that in the future the department will be more clear as to its expectations for any future programming that it funds."

I hereby declare my opposition to Margaret Spellings and her entire narrow-minded administration, which features many intolerant people.

"Many parents would not want their young children, or anyone else, exposed to the hateful lifestyle portrayed by Margaret Spellings," I wrote in a post to my blog.

"Congress and the Department of Education's purpose in employing a Secretary certainly was not to expose a censorous, intolerant, hate-filled prig to children, particularly through the powerful and intimate medium of government."

I also asked the Department of Education to refund all of my tax money that partially funds Spelling and her intolerant agenda.

My post closes with a warning to Spellings against trying to censor other viewpoints in the future which may run counter to the Administration's values. "You can be assured that in the future, I'll be more clear as to my expectations for any future hate that you spew with my tax funds, not that you have enough Christianity in your venomous body to understand or care."
