Bwahahahaha!

Jeb Bush, quoted by CNN:

"I'm to make sure that Terri is afforded at least the same rights that criminals convicted of the most heinous crimes take for granted," Bush said. "If a prisoner comes forward with new DNA evidence 20 years after his conviction suggesting his innocence, there is no doubt that the courts, in our state or all across the country for that matter, would immediately review his case. We should do no less for Terri Schiavo."

In case you need just the most basic of reminders, Jeb Bush's Florida has repeatedly fought court review of of post-conviction DNA evidence, including fighting requests for DNA testing for eight-plus years, and arguing that DNA evidence showing factual innocence didn't entitle a man to be released from prison because it was found before Florida passed a law guaranteeing that basic matter of justice.

Jeb Bush also didn't lift a finger when Florida was going to destroy older evidence that might be used today in post-conviction DNA testing. Florida's post-conviction DNA review required that all inmates have all the facts necessary to request a hearing within two years of the law's passage. Those that didn't lost their chance forever. Bush appears to be just fine with this.

In Bush's defense, he did issue a 30-day stay to stop the execution of a condemned man after the state destroyed potential DNA evidence, but when the small amount of evidence was inconclusive, Bush allowed him to be executed.

Terry Schiavo has already received about 5000 times more "protection" than "a prisoner [who] comes forward with new DNA evidence 20 years after his conviction," despite 22+ courts ruling that she didn't want this "protection."

I'm sure more well-connected bloggers can come up with dozens more cases where Jeb Bush's Florida actively ignored DNA evidence to get on with executions. How can CNN report this crap without the anchors bursting into laughter?
