Frist on Feingold: ‘I Was Hoping Deep Inside That Iran Was Not Listening’

Senate majority leader Bill Frist (R-TN), commenting today on Sen. Russ Feingold's (D-WI) resolution to censure President Bush for repeatedly lying to the American people on important matters of national security:

And as I was listening to it, I was hoping deep inside that that the leadership in Iran and other people who have the U.S. not in their best interest are not listening because of the terrible signal it sends.

Suggested response:

"Sen. Frist's record shows that he's too afraid of terrorists to properly exercise the responsibilities of his office, including oversight of the actions of the executive branch. Since he's not running for re-election this year, the voters of Tennessee have the opportunity to elect a real leader who believes that the leadership of this country can both protect it and obey its laws and Constitution."

You know, just in case the opposition party decides to oppose.…
