MacZOT is again offering free or discounted software to people who blog about it, and since this was coming up for MDJ today anyway, here's a quick look:

My review of HoudahSpot as seen on MacZOT.com

It's not as visually compelling as some other Spotlight enhancers, but I really like the new "inspector" pane that shows all of the metadata that Spotlight has for any given result. You can get the same thing on the command line, but this is easier. There are lots of Spotlight enhancers out there, and some of them are really embarassing, but this one looks OK.

Here's hoping everyone gets it free. Today's MDJ mentions a more visually attractive Spotlight enhancer, but I'm not sure it's any more capable than HoudahSpot. Let's hope it works this time - last time, I never heard back from them.
