Monday was better
I hoped for 7 hours of sleep but, again thanks to Advil PM (why is that stuff working so much better than Tylenol PM?), I got 9 hours, so I lost two hours on the day. Mondays are always busy because the weekends are not - everything that doesn't happen on the weekend (product announcements, business transactions, etc.) happens on Monday, so I often spend the whole day in "phase 1" news gathering.
No naps tonight, but the granulation in the eye is still bothering me some, and the allergies are still here. Fortunately, it rained today and is supposed to rain all week, so that should help keep the air clearer. I still can't find my Visine. Mom wanted me to soak my eyes in boiling brine or something like that, but I stopped listening at the "no, really, it works!" part. My eye hurts and I can't tolerate sodium, so she wants me to boil my eyes in salt water. I can almost hear her talking to Dad in that Monty Python John-Cleese-isn't-really-French accent, saying, "Be quiet! I think he's going to do it! Snicker snicker!"
(Yes, I know Visine is mostly saline, which is salt water, but I'll need this story next time I have to prove how mean Mom is to me so she'll do what I want.) When my eye got too bothersome, I put an ice pack on it. Cold eye = smaller eye = less pressure against lid where granulation is irritating it. Surprisingly effective.
I noticed some black spots on the office heat pump, which made me freaky, but they were just dust. I decided I couldn't put off a good cleaning out here any longer so I vacuumed every place I could reach, including the cover, screens, and inside of the heat pump. Now I need to get the vacuum emptied and the trash out before going home and to bed; I didn't feel like taking the trash out last week since it was only half full, so it's really full now and has to go.
And I hit one of those weekends where a bunch of payments that are supposed to be spaced a few days apart all hit on one day, so I have no money today - maybe tomorrow. I have my winning PowerBall ticket, tho, but I can't go to OKC on that. I have some credit card room. I need a new pair of shoes. My four-year-old New Balances are finally falling apart to the point that the plastic framework rubs blisters on my heel. That's ungood. I wonder if I can get the same model, since these worked so well. Probably not.
I don't need the Nike+ things that connect to an iPod. What's an iPod going to tell me as I walk around? "Oh my god SIT DOWN AND STOP TORTURING YOUR SHOES?" (Actually, I've lost nearly 60 pounds in six months, but you know shoes. They're never happy.)
Oh, and thanks to Seth for Fahrenheit 9/11, which I haven't thanked him for privately yet because I misplaced the Amazon shipping label. I haven't seen it since I saw it the day before WWDC 2004 started, in what was then still the Sony Metreon in San Francisco. I wonder how well it's held up. Thanks!
