Oh, and about me
I know what I said at the end of this, where first it was Sunday before the Super Bowl, then Monday morning, and now "soon." It's basically as it's written there: I got a new prescription, I had a bad reaction to it, and I didn't figure it out for about five days because I thought muscle aches were more probably something cold-and-flu related than an adverse reaction.
That's probably because I'd never had an adverse reaction before. I'm 41 now, and I guess it was my time to experience that particular bit of the wonderful human condition. I should post all the details, but at this point I'm waiting to hear from the doctors so I know how the story ends. Right now, I'm at "new medicine == poison, so stop taking it."
That worked, but all the bad effects aren't quite out of my system yet. I can move around but my left leg muscles (and knee) are still awfully sore, so I kind of limp around the office. At least now I can straighten my left knee completely, if I do it carefully. I couldn't do that Friday or Saturday. But until I know the full details about what actually happened, it's not much of a story. I sent faxes to all the relevant doctors today, because it's apparently some kind of law that doctors can only communicate with you in ways that were common 20 years ago. I think my local doctor recently retired his Telex machine.
I should be good for a few more hours, which should be all I need, but not sleeping much for 2-4 days is catching up now and I'm going to have to knock it off soon. Then I'll have tons of doctor voicemail in the morning, and we'll see where it goes from there.
Just in case you wondered. The short version of the past week. "Ow. Ow. OW. OW! OW OW OW OW OW OW OW OW GOD OW OW OW OW! OH CRAP OW! What the—the new medicine? Really? Fuck that! OW! OW! OW. Ow! Ow. Ow. Aaaahhhhhhhhh. Ow. Ahh. Ow."
(I retain all movie rights to this compelling narrative.)
