Syracuse is the 2003 NCAA Men's Basketball champion, beating Kansas 81-78 in the final game tonight. I'm highly in favor of this for a few reasons.

1. There's no shame in being knocked out of the NCAA tournament by the team that wins it all, and OU lost in the Elite Eight to ... Syracuse.
2. I can't root for KU basketball after 1988, when a team that shouldn't have been allowed into post-season play instead won the tournament, beating OU in the final game, just to be put on probation about three weeks later. (Did I mention that NCAA headquarters is less than an hour from Allen Fieldhouse and the KU campus? Yeah, let's not forget that.) I support the Big XII in most respects, but I can't root for Kansas basketball.
3. Syracuse had a hell of a tournament.

On the other hand, they're very orange, and they sure had the Big XII's number in the tournament (beating OSU, OU, Texas, and now Kansas). We'll need to work on that for next year. For now, congratulations to the champions and the new banner they'll hoist in the Carrier Dome.
